In the course of the pandemic as lockdown and stay in place orders throughout the world force spouses to stay isolated together, a number of troubling trends have developed. Included among those is a rise in domestic violence. From Greenland to Turkey to the US, domestic violence reports have increased at the same time as the shutdowns have occurred. Meanwhile, sociologists and experts anticipate a rise in divorce rates as stay in place orders are lifted. But for those in the Kingdom of God, this time is a unique opportunity for developing our marriages.

JB Shreve and Ben Lagrone discuss the marriage “opportunity” that exists in the midst of the pandemic.

Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together. Matthew 19:6

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:12-13
