Russian Interference

A long-awaited report on Russian interference in the EU Referendum showed the UK badly underestimated the Russian threat. The report also suggests Russian interference is the new normal.

US Pandemic

The US added another million to its total count of coronavirus cases. Current US totals continue to rise above 4 million cases and 145,000 deaths. Yesterday marked the first day the country reported more than 1,000 deaths in a single day in over 40 days.

Data released from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) showed infection rates in different parts of the US are 2 to 13 times higher than the figures currently reported. It also suggests that people who do not have symptoms and do not know they have the virus are continuing the spread and growth of the pandemic in the US.

More than 20,000 US servicemen have contracted the virus. The virus has tripled among the US military in the last three weeks.

Nearly 1% of all federal workers, 39,000 people, have so far contracted the virus.

Nearly one in three Americans believe the government and media are inflating reported coronavirus numbers, including the death counts.

Global Pandemic

South Africa now has more than 375,000 confirmed cases, accounting for half the confirmed cases on the continent.

A new study in India indicated that 1 in 5 people in Delhi have the virus, and most of those cases are undetected and unconfirmed. The Indian capital has reported more than 130,000 confirmed cases, but the study, relying on antibodies, suggests 6.6 million likely cases.

Alleged Chinese Hackers

The US government accused China of sponsoring two hackers who targeted vaccine development efforts. Last week the US, UK, and Canada accused Russia of doing the same thing.

Civil Unrest

The Trump administration deployed troops to Chicago to bolster law enforcement efforts in the face of ongoing protests. Local officials said the Chicago deployment would not be as heavy-handed as what has been seen in Oregon.
