This series of pandemic devotionals are designed to be daily (we hope) podcasts we will run over the course of this COVID-19 pandemic. Each episode will publish at the beginning of the day. Each episode will provide a brief summary of the major news about the pandemic for the day and then a short Biblical devotional aimed to strengthen our listeners in the midst of the crisis. Feel free to share these episodes with your friends as they become available.
JB Shreve is joined by Jonathan Webster for this morning’s Pandemic Devotional. We discuss the resolve to have joy in the midst of the crisis.
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
I cry out, “My splendor is gone! Everything I had hoped for from the Lord is lost!” The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord. Lamentations 3:18-26
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” …..Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Psalm 27:8, 13-14
Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job 13:15
