Our modern society is held together by a string of illusions that help believe things are better than they are. We imagine we are too far removed from evil to ever be too seriously impacted or led astray. But as illusions fall, reality comes to the forefront and the slide toward evil is all too deceptive for most to resist.
In this podcast devotional, JB Shreve looks at the illusions of modern society that allows evil and dysfunction to hide. He considers the false perspectives of the nature of man against the Biblical concepts of original sin. And he invites the listeners to be vigilant to resist the slide toward evil that is taking place today as the illusions many rely upon are beginning to be shaken.

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ John 3:3-7

It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. “Therefore, keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’ ” Mark 13:33-37
